The Argument
Some tribute shows are costume contests. This one is a songbook night. Teddy Petty & The Refugees bring the music of Tom Petty to the Michigan Theatre of Jackson on Friday, November 6, 2026, with doors at 6:00 p.m. and the show at 7:00 p.m. — and the theatre’s own listing frames the evening around the songs themselves: Petty and the Heartbreakers at the center, with the wider circle of music connected to Stevie Nicks, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison around it. Four price tiers, one historic room, and a catalogue Jackson audiences know by heart.

Why This Billing Works in This Room
COMMENTARY: The Nicks-Orbison-Harrison framing is the tell that this is built as a Traveling Wilburys-adjacent songbook night, not a single-artist impersonation. Petty’s catalogue already crosses folk-rock, heartland rock, and jangle pop; widening the lens to his collaborators gives a tribute band room to pace an evening instead of stacking identical tempos for two hours.
COMMENTARY: The pricing ladder is Jackson-friendly: a $15 upper-balcony seat with fees included in the theatre’s stated figures puts the entry point at movie-plus-popcorn money, while the $38 VIP box serves the date-night crowd. For a Friday night in a restored downtown movie palace, that spread is exactly how a tribute show fills both the floor and the balcony.
COMMENTARY: One practical note: the theatre’s ThunderTix summary range ($15.75 to $39.44) and its itemized with-fees list ($15 to $38 by section) describe the same four tiers at different rounding — this package reports the itemized section prices, which are the ones a buyer actually chooses between at checkout.
COMMENTARY: There is also a sequencing gift in the calendar: this show lands the night before the Jackson Toy Show fills the fairgrounds, which makes the first weekend of November an easy two-event trip for anyone coming into Jackson from elsewhere in the county. Dinner downtown, a tribute show in a landmark theatre, and a collector hall the next morning is the kind of layered weekend that turns a single ticket purchase into a small local itinerary, and it costs the city nothing extra to enjoy the overlap.
