What the Library Announced
FACT (JDL official calendar): “Jackson’s Most Haunted” is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 6:00 PM–7:00 PM at the Summit Branch. Presenter: Rusty Jones, Founder and Lead Investigator of Central Michigan Paranormal Investigations. The program covers Jackson’s haunted locations and how to use library resources to conduct your own investigations. Attendees can enter to win their own ghost hunting kit. Audience: Adults and Teens. Categories: Other / Seasonal Programs.
COMMENTARY: This is the library doing what libraries do best — turning local curiosity into research skills. Same investigators behind the DDA’s downtown haunted tours, but here the pitch is education: learn the locations, learn the resources, try it yourself.
Why It Fits October in Jackson
Between the DDA’s haunted walking tours running through the month and the library’s own haunted programming (the Carnegie Branch hosts “Michigan’s Haunted Lighthouses” on Oct. 11), Jackson is leaning into spooky season hard this year. The Oct. 21 Summit Branch program is the research-flavored entry in the lineup — part history talk, part how-to, part raffle.
