She is streaming to almost nobody. That is the safest place in the world, until the girl in her own monitor starts moving first.
The Livestream is the first of three short practice pieces about surfaces that watch back: a monitor, a security screen, a mirror. It grows out of a silent test clip from earlier this month, two girls and a phone in a school courtyard, and asks what made that clip creepy: the watcher seemed human because she was watching; the girl behind the glass seemed almost human, and her eyes carried the rest.

This time there is sound, but only just: a quiet room, and one voice that does not belong to any mouth on screen. Watch her eyes. Watch who moves first.
